The Ministry of Public Works plays an important role in the infrastructure development of the country.

Its main responsibilities are:

  • Digging and paving roads
  • Maintenance of sanitary drainage nets
  • Establishment of pumping plants
  • Water treatment of sanitary drainage to be used in cultivating greenery
  • Establishment and maintenance of nets and utilities for rain drainage


The Ministry has handled most of the State's projects for the construction of buildings and development of infrastructure. Some of its major accomplishments are the Amiri Diwan and the Diwan of HH Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Telecommunication Centre - with its Liberation Tower -- located in the heart of Kuwait City. While the Diwans are great monuments representing the official centres of the State of Kuwait, the Telecommunication Centre is a well-known landmark.
