KUWAIT: The Regional Office for Arab States at the International Labor Organization (ILO) is keen to hone abilities of Arab youth and encourage them to work in the private sector, office director Nada Al-Nashif said yesterday.
Al-Nashif said the workshop on setting responses for labor reports, currently being held here, is rather a "good initiative", as Kuwait is very keen and cooperative as far as labor and workforce are concerned.
She also underlined significance of the Kuwaiti parliament in supporting such vital issue, pointing out that of the office's top priorities in this regard are the issues of human trafficking, woman empowerment and motivating the youth to adopt a more pioneering role in life.
On his part, Dr. Saleh Bourjini, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, said the workshop elucidates how Kuwait is implementing labor-related agreements. He added that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs and ILO are perceptibly cooperating in this regard, yet other related issues, such as laws on child labor, should be revised. The workshop, which kicked off yesterday, will last for five days.
