KUWAIT: The Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah yesterday praised General Department of Drugs Control (GDDC) officials, urging them to continue to exert their great efforts in serving Kuwait and protecting its people from the toxic effects of the damaging, anti-social menace of drugs.
The minister issued the call at a reception held for the GDDC's Director General, Brigadier Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, during which the senior anti-narcotics official presented the minister with a work recently released by the GDDC, entitled, 'Drugs in the State of Kuwait...Causes, Prevention and Remedy'.
The book takes the form of an in-depth study, with a total of 2,113 citizens and residents being questioned about their attitudes to drugs. The respondents were divided into four categories, including young school and university students, prisoners whose crimes were drug-related who are currently undergoing treatment, Juvenile Rehabilitation Center residents and residents of the Kuwait Finance House-sponsored addiction treatment center.
